Fundraising Next Wednesday and Thursday

Come and support us next Wednesday and Thursday in the student centre! You can 'buy' a quilt square for a toonie which will then go towards the micro-finance NGO Drombaya. Although we will accept any donation big or small. Buying squares guarantees that we will sew that square into a quilt that will then go to a person in need. The more you buy the more we sew!!

Remember that is Feb 9-10!

Who we are...

Sewing Patches, Sowing Progress is a social action project run by a group of Faculty of Education students. It aims to combine the local and global community through sewing and donating. This is done by taking donated fabric, cutting squares and creating quilts. People are able to donate money and through their donation they are able to ‘buy’ a quilt square. When people ‘buy’ a quilt square the group commits to making that square. When a whole quilt is ‘bought’ the group makes a quilt and the quilts are then in turn donated to the local homeless. The money that is donated is given to a local NGO, Drombaya, which is a microfinance organization that gives microloans to those in need, in Cameroon. The quilts help in Ottawa, the money helps in Africa; a local and global connection.
